Telephone System/Cabling Installation
Q: Will our phones be down any length of time while you’re installing the new phone or cabling system?
A: Our answer is that “it depends.” We understand that your telephone is the lifeline to your daily business operations, so we make every effort to minimize downtime. Generally, we install your new telephone system at night while your phone traffic is low, and come to your office the next morning for training on your new system. If downtime is required, we can forward your business line to an appropriate cell phone for uninterrupted service.
Q: What do I do with my old telephone equipment?
A: PTI Communications is glad to remove your old equipment. We recycle or repurpose what we can and dispose of the rest for you as part of our service.
Q: Is a new telephone system expensive?
A: A telephone system is a necessary investment, so purchase the one that works most effectively for your needs. In many cases, we have been able to save clients significant money by simply reviewing their existing phone payment plan and providing more cost-effective solutions. In other cases, where funds are limited, we can provide refurbished telephone systems that offer the functionality at a fraction of the cost. PTI can also assist business owners in obtaining financing for their new systems.
Q: How long does it take to get a new telephone system?
A: With normal condition it takes 5-7 business days to select and install your new phone system from start to finish. If you need a telephone system sooner, let us know.
Q: If I have problems with my telephone system, can I call you?
A: Absolutely. Contact PTI Communications during regular business hours. If you have an emergency, call after hours and your call will be forwarded to a member of our staff. We want you to call!! Please don’t try to fix the problem on your own.
Q: What is the normal life of a telephone system?
A: We estimate that you’ll need to change your telephone system out every 7-9 years due to technology and features changes. Systems don’t wear out; the technology changes.
Q: Can you add on to our existing telephone system?
A: It depends on the manufacturer.
Q: There are a lot of concerns about security. How secure are PTI’s systems?
A: Your system is secure. With the technological advances, it is extremely rare that a problem with hackers to your system ever occurs. If you suspect a problem, don’t wait. Contact PTI immediately.
Q: Does PTI Communications install alarm systems?
A: No, that is the one thing we don’t do ourselves. But we do have qualified partners who can assist with all aspects of security.
Q: Can I find a phone system on the Internet?
A: You could, but we don’t recommend it. You will need professional advice on which telephone system best suits your needs. After all, you’ll be using it for the next decade, and the wrong system will cause frustration, confusion and possibly loss of business. You will also need professional installation of your new system and a resource for questions and repairs if they are needed. PTI Communications provides all of that with a personal, hands-on approach our clients appreciate.
Q: What is VoIP?
A: VoIP is an acronym for Voice Over Internet Protocol. Its technologies are designed for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol networks, such as the Internet. Other terms for VoIP include broadband phone service and IP telephony. VoIP can enhance traditional telephone service by providing phone service through the Internet instead of your local telephone company, often at much-reduced rates, and increasing functionality. VoIP, as opposed to a traditional PBX system, is best used when companies have multiple locations or employees who work at remote sites, such as from home.
